About Us The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas became a reality on November 1, 2005. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is our desire to serve the youth of Northwest Arkansas, from all backgrounds, by teaching - through the game of golf - nine leadership core values: confidence, respect, courtesy, responsibility, sportsmanship, judgment, honesty, integrity, and perseverance. The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas is grateful to the All Star Sports Arena for serving as our first "home". However, beginning in 2009, The First Tee began operating from the Tanyard Creek Practice Center in Bella Vista (for our Benton County home), and at Stonebridge Meadows in Fayetteville (for our Washington County home). In 2010, The First Tee expanded its programming to the Siloam Springs/Hwy 59 corridor, and began an affiliation with Dawn Hill Country Club. To ensure our participants have access to available and affordable golf, our "Get Them Playing" program offers discounted golf greens fees to our participants at area Lindsey Golf Management facilities, and at the Brittany course in Bella Vista.
In Febraury 2010, The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas and the City of Lowell announced the signing of a "Letter of Intent" which provides The First Tee with the opportunity to raise funds for a facility to be built in the city's Ward Nail Park. The Learning Center would offer participants, and the general public, a full driving range, three practice golf holes, a three-hole short game area, and a building/pavilion area. This central Northwest Arkansas location will provide a Learning Center no more than 30 minutes from just about everywhere in Northwest Arkansas.
The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas is proud to support The First Tee National School Program. By the end of 2010, 34 elementary schools wil have been provided the equipment, lesson plans, and teacher training so that golf and The First Tee Life Skills Experience can be taught in physical education classes. It is the goal of The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas to create the necessary funding to provide every elementary school in Northwest Arkansas with this valuable program. To further the opportunity to introduce students to a lifetime sport that enhances values for a lifetime, The First Tee of NWA offers its coaches to middle, junior high, and high school PE teachers to bring golf and life skills instruction to their PE classes. In the 2009-10 school year, we were able to provide 23 weeks of instruction at schools across the region.
The First Tee of NWA moved its offices, at the begiining of 2010, to the Center for Nonprofits at St. Mary's in Rogers. We believe this move will provide valuable connections for our organization to the nonprofit community of NWA. The address of The First Tee of NWA is 1200 W. Walnut, Suite 2403, Rogers, AR 72756.
